The style is somehow a mixture of a bit everything from the 80's Hard-Core-Metal-Punk - something straight forward, angry, raw but terribly EFFICIENT ! You can hear in my opinion influences from various US Hard-Core bands like Cro-mags, Poison Idea, Battalion Of Saints, Agnostic Front as well as some from the UK punk style (GBH, Discharge) but also some more "Metal" ones like Carnivore, SOD, Vio-Lence... In the end, you get 4 songs that are just composed/written to drive you crazy and I guess THE END AD reached its goal !

Enemy Action 03:37
ENEMY ACTION I’m invisible And bulletproof And if you fuck with me You will get the boot Forced to face The demons now A dark night of the soul How are we gonna get out? No pleasure in seeing once again A murder cell by cell spreading further My ancient enemy inside my friend Now I lay me down to rest Rip my heart out of my chest You were down so You shot up Shot out of this world And nothing can harm you now Once is an accident Twice is coincidence Three times is enemy action Learn to protect Warding off the loneliness Numbing mists down to my fingertips Like a loaded gun deep inside my blood Killing off the bad thoughts I stood at the jumping off place And nothing can harm me now Once is an accident Twice is coincidence Three times is enemy action Learn to forget These are the end times Why am I surprised That evil wears A human face Take my advice I’m not using it Naked in bed Is how I settle shit Face to face With demons now These are the end times Why am I surprised That evil wears A human face Take my advice I’m not using it Naked in bed Is the shit

I FEEL LIKE DEATH When I was 27 You signed my death sentence You said I didn’t matter I didn’t wanna get better I got the cure for all your problems No pushing and no shoving Grab your I.D. be ready I feel like death The tar is melting outside Grab your card and approach the line I feel like death Losing my teeth Rotting my bones Every day is the same Get in the car Go for a ride All the way to the other side Standing on the pier Down by the river I’m surrounded by the smell The smell of despair Of a thousand years I should just Throw myself right off I feel like death Knocking on my door Knocking me to the floor I feel like death I feel like death I feel like I feel like death I feel like death I feel like I feel like death Referred pain And suffering If you can’t see Then it’s not real But it’s still there Under the skin I’ve got chills in the summertime I feel like death I FEEL LIKE DEEEAAATTTHH

I WANNA BE ALONE Standing on the corner Waiting for the man To come by and put me in the trash can Sometimes I feel It’s all grey Think I’ll go underground And ride on the subway Think I see Linus Coming on around the corner Asking me all about crop circles Oh I just wanna be alone Oh I just wanna be alone He says Hey man Are you going my way Let’s get together At the squat house And we’ll have a party I don’t feel like it I don’t want to Deal with all the shit every day It’s just a fucking cage And I’m a rat in a race It’s always the same It’s always the same It’s always the same The same every day All the same people All the same places All the same habits And all the same faces Oh I just wanna be alone Oh I just wanna be alone Oh woah woah woah

Alien Face 03:21
ALIEN FACE The razor slipped And it’s terminal I’d rather be with her Six weeks left It’s not enough We’ll make you comfortable Comfortable We found your Brother in the bed Phone in his hand Gunshot to the head He left no note and no reason why No time to say goodbye Say goodbye What doesn’t kill me had better start running Listen here While you live in fear Pretending it is fine Pose for your chalk outline Try to sleep Sweet dreams What doesn’t kill me had better start running You believed That I was weak But I was just waiting For the light to reveal You showed me Your Alien Face Your Alien Face You showed me Your Alien Face Your Alien Face Your Alien Face Your Alien Face

A Four-Track EP from this filthy outfit from Philadelphia. "The Smell of Despair" bridges the gap between their previous release, Scorched Earth; on Massacre Records and their latest offering, which is completed and steaming for a full release date. Formed in 2014, the band's previous releases were reviewed in PowerPlay and the band now has the fiesta Ami Friend handling the vocal duties alongside guitarist Paul Juestrich, bassist Steve Rogers and drummer Lorin Savadove. The result is a mix of metal, punk and hardcore with an aggressive undercurrent, brutal riffs and Friend's frenzied vocals. "Feel Like Death" sees Friend screaming like a banshee, whilst the undercurrent of the whole band drips with malevolent intent. The centerpiece of the EP is the 100 mph "I wanna Be Alone" which thunders along at an exceptional pace before taking a deep breath and hitting 110 mph whilst Friend appears to loose it big time! It's fast furious and certainly filthy. If you like your rock with dirt under the nails and sweat pouring down the neck, then "The Smell Of Despair" will appeal to you.

Review by Paul Hutchings

The End A.D. are a metal/hardcore/punk group from Philadelphia. Their ability to captivate a whole room is insane. Through their powerful vocal screams, shredding guitar licks, and over the top drumming, The End A.D. are one of the best live bands I have seen in Philadelphia. Their newest release, The Smell of Despair, was released this past September. The EP features songs like "Alien Face" and my personal favorite, "I Wanna Be Alone". If heavy music and involuntary head-banging are lacking in your life, The Smell of Despair should absolutely be added to your musical library. Check out their music online with the links provided below! Also, be sure to check out "I Wanna Be Alone" below. I can't remember the last time I pulled out the two-step at any show, and this song makes it "litrally" impossible not to move around.
Be sure to catch The End A.D. at their upcoming gigs:

THE END A.D. are a band hailing from Pennsylvania/USA... Formed in 2014, they have released an album last year on MASSACRE Records and are now unleashing a 4-song 10" EP on KILL TIME Records - which a major change since this album - the addition of Ami FRIEND as new vocalist of the band, replacing Otto LUCK. I guess it's not always an easy decision for a band to change for a female vocalist when previous singer was a dude.. it may destabilize the fans that were used to the previous vocal style... But i dare to say the band did the RIGHT choice, 'cos Ami is really bringing something NEW to the band... Her style is RAW, pretty much in the PUNK-spirit but she can alternate fom very pleasant melodious lines to angry/screaming vocal parts.. more in the HARD-CORE style... Don't expect a "wanna-be-gothic diva" here - you'll be disappointed haha ! And that's not what the band is about - the style is somehow a mixture of a bit everything from the 80's Hard-Core-Metal-Punk - something straight forward, angry, raw but terribly EFFICIENT ! When i hear these songs, i can't prevent myself from banging my head & feeling like jumping here & there :-) In these days, when too many bands try to sound "modern", "perfect" and in the end "tasteless", it's good to have bands like THE END AD getting back to the essential - music made with blood, sweat & guts ! Well-done dudes (& duduette !)
